Talents Above Water introduces the following young musicians and ensembles: baritone Raoul Steffani, violinist Mathieu van Bellen, Jerboah, Ardemus Saxophone Quartet, flute sextet 6Sense, and Amsterdam Corelli Collective.


Monday, March 13 at 21:00 CET| Ardemus Saxophone Quartet

Passionate, fiery and motivated, these four promising classical saxophonists share an enormous love for chamber music. All from different backgrounds, they met at the Amsterdam Conservatory where they studied with the renowned saxophonist Arno Bornkamp. From their very first encounter, a musical spark was ignited and a bond established.

Tuesday, March 14 at 21:00 CET | Amsterdam Corelli Collective

Founded by Ryuko Reid in 2013, thirteen string players and a harpsichordist came together through their passion for baroque music and historical performance. The ensemble pays tribute to Arcangelo Corelli, whose works were published in Amsterdam. Keeping their interpretations fresh, Amsterdam Corelli Collective performs his compositions alongside other 17th- and 18th-century repertoires for string orchestra.

Wednesday, March 15 at 21:00 CET | Raoul Steffani

Dutch baritone Raoul Steffani (*1992) won the 2016 Grachtenfestival Conservatory Competition as well as several other prestigious awards. He has performed at the Dutch Embassies in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Calgary and Athens. Eye witness accounts suggest we can look forward to great achievements by this budding talent.

Thursday, March 16 at 21:00 CET | 6Sense

6Sense is the Netherland’s most exciting young flute sextet. It consists of talented flutists who each bring different artistic qualities to the table. They play every instrument in the flute family, including the piccolo and bass flute. Spirited, motivated, professional and dynamic, they have a great repertoire mixing original compositions and arrangements from all musical periods.

Friday, March 17 at 21:00 CET | Jerboah

The passionate, Amsterdam-based ensemble Jerboah consists of six musicians and three artists from other art disciplines. Brechtje van Dijk (composer, voice), Jornt Duyx (composer, multi-instrumentalist), Sarah Jeffery (recorders, voice), Josephine Bode (recorders, voice), Dodó Kis (EWI, recorders, voice) and Marcos Baggiani (drums, percussion) are supported by dancer and choreographer Kenzo Kusuda, visual artist Mees Joachim, and producer Pauline Otten. Together, they guarantee unique and impressive performances!

Saturday, March 18 at 21:00 CET | Mathieu van Bellen

Violinist Mathieu van Bellen (*1988) was born in the Netherlands. He started studying the violin with Nico Baltussen in Belgium. He continued his studies with Jan Repko, first at the Amsterdam Conservatory and later at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, for which he was awarded a scholarship by the VandenEnde Foundation. Mathieu van Bellen continued his studies at London’s Royal College of Music with Itzhak Rashkovsky, and at Berlin’s Hochschule für Musik with Ulf Wallin.
